DECEMBER 2013 DEFAMATION: Oklahoma’s “Grand Land” Ever More Tarnished
“Worst” #7 Oklahoma's pristine public spaces, first settled by earth-respecting Native Americans, is seeing public lands and parks increasingly mutilated with dumped, disease-breeding waste. Sharing a tied status with Georgia and Illinois, Oklahoma suffers from terribly low per capita expenditures on environmental protection, while lacking comprehensive recycling that reduces trash volumes and tax expenditures costs. Though initiated by State Representative McCullough, with support from the Recycling Association, the Legislature at Oklahoma City, as with (literally all) Sunbelt and Southern Capitols, fail at adopting litter reducing Container Deposits decrees found in cleaner Western and New England states. With an economy heavily dependent on oil and gas fracking--supported by “so-so” Mary Fallin--the ONLY female governor among “worst” states dominated by pro-illegal littering male leaders (scroll down for picture)--this process has caused polluted waterways and human-consumed underground water, spurring lawsuits to limit or end such practices in the Sooner State. Yet, much identified illegal litterers and air pollution sources have been tracked to (next door) worst #10 Texas, the 27 million-peopled, 268, 820 square-mile government still possessing TOO MANY life-threatening ecological “negatives.” And similar to Texas, Oklahoma suffers from a very high death rate from vehicle crashes with un-removed litter and debris (for its size of population and number of registered vehicles): approximately 20 die each year from the crashes. Much problematic unchecked illegal dumping and/or fracking-contaminated water (scroll donw for pics) appears to be occurring north of Oklahoma City at Edmond and nearby Logan County; Wagoner County southwest of Tulsa; Le Flore County bordering Arkansas.
Remember...if you see littering/dumping…REPORT IT!
